Sadly my job includes searching for and recovering dead children. Here's a story about a little girl named Jackie and her forever faithful partner Mudpuddle.

INTEGRITY YOU CAN TRUST - SERVICE YOU CAN COUNT ON.
The bond of love between humans and animals is expressed by this story.
"When Her Little Dog Cried and Said Good-bye".
By Mr. Harry Oakes, Search and Rescue Coordinator & Dog Handler.
On 08-06-96, we flew two K-9 SAR Dog teams to Tennessee, to try and find a kidnapped victim. The lead dog handler, Harry E. Oakes Jr. with Search and Rescue (SAR) Dog Valorie, took time from his work and donated his own money, time, and skills to assist on this case.
When we arrived at the little girl's home, we found a little brown pregnant dachshund named Mud puddle. The sadness in her eyes said it all. Her heart was aching and broken and if you looked deep into her sad eyes, you could see the tears. You could feel the emptiness and loneliness in her heart as her best friend, Jackie, was gone, taken by a monster, forever. A monster named "R" had stolen her 9-year-old partner named Jackie from the front yard, savagely raping her and then strangling her to death. Then the monster buried the little girl in a cold, wet, shallow, dirt grave.
When we started our search for the little girl, our hearts were filled with sadness when our dogs tracked the victim to the suspect's car, and then to where he performed his horrible acts of terror. When our dogs gave the death alerts in the suspect's vehicle, we knew that Jackie would never return to Mud puddle, or her family alive.
When we were all done with our search, I was sitting down with my dog, Valorie, wiping the tears from my eyes. I was looking into the sky trying to find some answers and comfort in what we do, from God above. I felt a nudge, a soft gentle nudge of a little scared dog with a broken heart.
She was asking me if she could share her pain. In my heart as I looked deep into her big brown sad eyes, I could feel that she was asking me if her best friend was coming home. I pulled her close, gave her a long hug, and I kissed her gently on her head. I sadly told her that her best friend would never be coming home again and that "It wasn't her fault at all, her best friend Jackie was dead" and I reassured Mud puddle that we shared in her loss and sorrow.
You see, when I talked to Jackie's mother, I was told that Mud puddle never left Jackie's side. If Jackie got a bath, so did Mud puddle. If Jackie went to school, Mud puddle was there, waiting to walk her home. When Jackie went to bed. Mud puddle was lying there asleep next to Jackie on the bed, protecting her from the night.
They were inseparable. When Jackie disappeared that day, Mud puddle had been at her side and was forced by "R" to be separated from Jackie.
Mud puddle was found by the family, police, and searchers, lying right at the spot where "R" abducted little Jackie. And where he had driven off with Jackie, leaving poor little Mud puddle all alone in the rain, shivering and cold, crying for her Jackie. Mud puddle wouldn't leave the spot from where her partner, Jackie, was taken.
Mud puddle was never to see her friend alive again. When I saw the sadness in her heart and in her eyes, I held her close and reassured her that she did everything she could, and this wasn't her fault. As I held Mud puddle gently in my arms and as I talked with her, a peace seemed to come over her heart and Mud puddle gently licked my face and laid her head on my shoulder and whined. As the tears streamed down my face, I could feel a little broken heart next to mine. I had to go, and as I walked my own SAR Dog Valorie to the van, I looked back at Mud puddle and bent down one more time and gave her a hug and a kiss and told her she was a good girl.
Mud puddle walked towards the house, paused and looked back towards me as if to say: "Thank you for doing what you did for Jackie and me." She then walked to Jackie's bedroom, lay at the entrance of the door and looked out to the woods and roads where Jackie disappeared, never to return again. She only moves to go to the bathroom and then she returns to Jackie's room, waiting.
My Letter to Jackie
Dear Jackie,
We did our best to find you, my partner and I, along with your dog Mud puddle and our search dog Valorie. Your mom and dad searched day and night, along with Billy Hale, an NMCLC Investigator, and a lot of good people from your hometown. We were able to find enough evidence to put the monster that hurt you away forever. I just want you to know that though we never met you. You're a very lucky and special girl. You have a very special friend waiting for you. Ask God if you can come say good-bye to Mud puddle? She is pregnant and when she has puppies, this will give her someone to love and hold dear. Jackie, Mud puddle wanted me to say she loves you and misses you and she just wanted to say GOOD-BYE. Your friends from Search and Rescue, Harry with Search dog Valorie.
This is why Harry and SAR Dog Valorie do what they do. "To bring the kids home so the family can have closure".
Thank you
Harry and SAR Dog Valorie K-9-1.

 10-20-2021

It's with a heavy heart that I must pass on this news. On 10-20-2021 in the early hours, my sister sherrie lee McIntire - Oakes was found dead in the Tacoma Woman's Rescue Shelter. It's unknown at this time how she died. As her twin brother, I'm extremely saddened by the loss of my sister Sherrie.
Sherrie and I grew up as Air Force Brats. Our father was in the Air force so our family moved around. We were born in Portland, Oregon. Traveled to Alaska, Japan, California before my dad retired. We then went to Jr. High and High School in Portland, Ore.
After HS. Sis got married and moved to S. Ca. Her husband was stationed in the air force down there. She was married to her first husband for 8 years before she divorced.
She then moved back to Portland, Ore. Eventually she met her second husband Keith McIntire and got married. They are still married today. During her life she was a professional business owner owning a limousine service.
10 years ago, Sis suffered a fall inside a Taco Bell in Tacoma, Wa. where she broke her leg. Eventually she had to have four reconstructive surgeries to fix the leg. After her fourth surgery she suffered a minor stroke.
Diabetes was her only other medical issue but it was a big one. She loved animals. Her last dog "Manly" was a loving gentle pug. He passed away a few years ago.
She loved the beach and moved to Hoquiam, Wa. But due to recent medical issues, lost her home, became homeless as she refused to live in an assisted care facility and was found dead this morning. Paramedics informed me she died in her sleep. Sherrie is survived by her Husband Keith McIntire. Her brother (ME) Harry Oakes Jr. Her Aunt Sally Riddle and cousins Carolyn and Ron. I have no idea when her memorial service will be or where. I'll try to keep everyone posted. My email is sardogk91@aol.com or sardogk91@gmail.com Any memorial donations should be sent in her memory to your local animal shelter, Tacoma Homeless Shelter, or Friendship house in Hoquiam, Aberdeen, Washington. Thank you Respectfully Harry E. Oakes Jr. I dedicate this song "I'll be there" by the Escape club to my sister Sherrie. I love you your brother.  Remember SAR Dog Ranger. My second search dog's name was Ranger. A loving dog I rescued from the dog pound at 5 months old and trained him for SAR. He was put in the Oregon Pet Hall of Fame by the Oregon Humane society for his work around the world. They even made a beany baby toy in his memory. I nice memorial for the love and work he did around the world "so others may live". I sure miss him. He will always live on in my heart. Harry Oakes K9 SAR www.k9sardog.com

to me

Here you go, Harry.   You are the man!

---

Our family cat had gone missing for 6 days. My wife and I combed through the house, garage, we walked door to door, put out flyers, checked shelters etc. during that period.  Then it dawned on us that Harry had helped to find a friend of ours lost dog some years ago.  I contacted her, she got me Harry’s info, and Harry immediately responded that he was available and after a few quick exchanges he was on the way.  His friendly crew of dogs got the scent and first did a thorough search throughout the house and found nothing.  They picked  up a faint scent outside but it led to no where. Harry explained that this was likely the dogs detecting our cats scent on our shoes because that is the way we would way, several times a day, to try and find him.  That led us back to the garage.  The dog that was searching the garage alerted quite strongly on my old Buick, which I had searched head to toe (e.g. hood was still open!), but the dog was sure he was there. And he was right, my missing cat was lodged/stuck way up in the wheel well.  Had I moved that car, and I had intended to soon, he would have likely been crushed. It’s amazing he didn’t starve or die of dehydration for those 6 days. We have no idea why he didn’t move or make a sound as I’m a car guy and was in and out of that garage, with it wide open, several times a day.

Harry and his crew are true heroes to our family.  Thanks, Harry!

This young lady was missing her dog for over a week. We tracked it with my SAR dogs to this field. I told her to just sit down and call for her dog. She couldn't see him but I knew he was in the field (tall grass) because of the way my sar dogs were acting. She sat down, called for him, his head popped up and he slowly made his way to her. Happy reunion.

Keith Payne Bare with me, it’s lengthy, but it will all make sense.
it happened in Tigard, Oregon. It was on the front page of the newspaper in late November of 1996. I check the police records from time to time to make sure the accomplice isn’t out on some appeal, because he didn’t do the killing. I wish they had charged the wife of the actual murderer too. She bought the gun for him because he had a felony and couldn’t own one. It was all premeditated.
Saffa owned an auto body shop and this guy was his front end manager. Saffa knew that being Arab, he didn’t want to scare away potential customers from his shop because he was from the Middle East. First Gulf war had just happened, Americans weren’t too keen on people from the Middle East.
Saffa had no clue this guy was a white supremacist who then hired a crew member for Saffa’s body work team. Shockingly (sarcasm) also racist against Arabs.
Anyway, Saffa found out this asshole had been embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from his business. The racist evil greedy subhuman filth would call the insurance companies of said insurer and say “yea Mr. Allstate person, we pulled off the panel and found more damage. We can fix the damage we found for your customer that is not in the original estimate, but it will cost XXX amount of dollars.“ He would then have the company send the check directly to an account at a different bank using Professional Auto’s name and himself as the account signer. The “A” rate insurance companies never batted an eye. This went on years!
Saffa knew something was off as he was starting to get strange and off putting phone calls from the said insurance company’s the POS was swindling. The fraud had finally been flagged. Saffa arranged to have a meeting, siting that something of great concern was troubling him and needed to be addressed promptly. I’m guessing these killers knew that there heist would eventually come to an end. They forged their plan.
When this confrontation took place, the main suspect beat him to a bloody pulp, strangled him to death and to ensure he was dead, he shot him with a sawed off shotgun. As his accomplice was in on it he helped load his body and went and threw him off a cliff.
Saffa fought for his life, because a window broke out of his car. That night they replaced the window and thought they had “cleaned” it.
After weeks and weeks of getting nowhere with the Tigard police, I encouraged Saffa’s brother to call Harry. Harry came right out. We had grabbed a few scent items from his home. the first item (it was a shoe) the very first moment we’re talking seconds, his furbabies hit, squatted and peed.
Harry turned to me and gave me a look. I froze, my face went white. He pulled me aside and said, “I know you you”. And I did know. He went on to say, “you have to keep your cool, don’t let on yet, let me do my work.”
Backstory here. I’ve known Harry since I was 9, maybe 10 through my mom who worked for Representative Mary Alice Ford. Harry worked tirelessly in joint efforts with the legislature. There are so many faucets about what SAR does, and the value to our communities to have access to these extraordinary trained assets. To me, if I were to make a comparison in your field of work, it would be the Delta Force standard.
Harry did (shocking, I know) take time to have fun in what no doubt has its hard days. I’m also certain it has its rewards, but I’ve heard some horrific stories. I can’t even imagine what you all have seen throughout your careers. I prefer the happy endings where loved ones and pets are reunited.❤️
    Okay, moving on, lol.
One of the fun things we would do is all go out looking for the annual Rose Festival Pin. Once a week the Oregonian (our main newspaper at the time) would post a clue as to the whereabouts of where the coveted Rose pin had been hidden. Portland hasn’t done it in years, but a lot of Portlanders loved this City of Roses tradition. It wasn’t even about the prize to Harry. It was the adventure, putting all the clues together and the challenge of solving the mystery. I think that’s what makes Harry so special, so unique and damn good at his trade.
Anyway, during our group outings, Harry would share the different techniques on how he trains his dogs and alert signals, etc and so forth. I was so curious and in awe that you could train a dog to do these incredible things. I still to this day won’t leave anyone to watch our house and furbabies. If I can’t bring them to a vacation home? I’ll find one that will. And I always tell my friends and family, call him immediately. Don’t wait for the police. They will file a missing person report and tell you to wait to see if I decided to just get away for a bit on my own.
    So there you have it!
Long summary of the events I know I’m sure I made some typos and grammar errors, I apologize, I can’t find my readers! Haha
    Harry rules!!!!

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!! Harry Oakes is a scam artist! He wanted to charge my family $200/hour to send out his K9s when we didn't even have a starting point! He then went on social media to comment on news outlets that my family is refusing K9 searches. This then lead people to get suspicious of us, like WE were the ones who made my grandfather go missing. He then took it upon himself to trash my family on his personal Facebook page. If you don't like his service, he will gaslight you into thinking you are the issue. Just take a look at how he replies to some of the negative Yelp comments. He manipulates people by telling them law enforcement does the same stuff he does. WRONG! Sheriffs and police departments have told my family to stay FAR AWAY from this guy, because he is just in it for money, he preys on vulnerable families. STAY FAR AWAY!!!

Response.

Shame on Megan.

Obviously, she knows nothing about my credibility.

The credibility I’ve built in the courtroom and outside the courtroom through my successful missions over the last 49 years.

She never bitched or complained when I donated my services as a volunteer searcher with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s office from 1972-1974. While a member of US Army Military Police 1974-1977. While I worked in Law enforcement as a regular police officer, and reserved deputy from 1977 through 1994.

While I worked as a K9 Consultant for Clark Co SO for Sheriff’ Kanakoha.

While I donated my services and skills while an active member of Portland Mountain Rescue and Mountain Wilderness Search Dogs. 1986-1997. Nor have you mentioned my 25 years of donating my services to the American Red Cross Oregon Trail chapter disaster services.

Nor have you complained when I volunteered my skills and time on the Back Country ski patrol for Mt Hood, and Mt St Helens, Wa.

What about the hundreds of victims I’ve found alive and dead during all these years? Not one mention about that?

I didn’t become a paid private contractor in Sar until I had been in SAR for 27 years volunteering.

And if you did your homework/research you would have found it was because the Ore. Dept of Justice asked me to become a private contractor so the sheriff’s office couldn’t have any control my work as a paid professional. After I testified in the Ore. Legislature on HB 3093 against Klamath County and the OSSA. When KCSO by their lack of actions cause the deaths of two innocent children and OSSA covered it all up.

I’m still used and supported by the state police, many other govt agencies and of course private families who want their loved ones to be found by someone like me who has now 49 years experience.

Everyone of my clients gets a contract which spells out what I can and can’t do for them. There is absolutely no scamming of anyone. If I were a scam artists as you falsely claim, I would have been shut down many years ago.

This contract that I provide for my clients, protects the client as well as my business. Out of 14,335 cases, I’ve been wrong 4 times on my conclusions. What business that has helped over 14,300 clients can say that? That’s less then .0002%. That along with being hired by and being an advisor to, SAR teams such as the St Croix USVI, Sitka SAR dogs, Turkish K9 SAR, NATO, UK SAR, all have been successful due to my professional ethics and training.

Just because your paid support folks (Local law enforcement and volunteers) have all failed to find her grandfather, doesn’t give her the right to slander me or my business. She has no one to blame about her grandfather not being found but herself and her family for not bringing in a skilled experience paid professional as myself. I have thousands of references who speak highly of my skills and documentation.

Ask Ashley Pond and Miranda Gaddis’ mothers’ who found their daughters after being murdered and concealed by Ward Weaver in Ore. City in 2002. This after the police and FBI both went public after their searches for the girls and told everyone the girls “Were not on Ward’s property”. They lied and we told the truth.

Respectfully

Mr. Harry Oakes
