let's address fake news.

this pod case dated Nov 7 1997 makes numerous false statements.
Yes when I left the non profit world it was the DOJ that helped me set up a for profit contracting business where I can choose to charge clients for my services.
Each client gets a contract that spells out what I can and cannot do for them and how much I will charge them. There is no scamming of victims. If they agree with a signed contract then that's it.
If they refuse to sign the contract then I simply don't respond to do the search.
The statement that I've approached families during their vulnerability is 100% false. Folks I'm swamped with over 450 calls a year I don't have the energy or time to try to dig up more business.
This bad information was put out by another dog handler from another k9 team who was pissed because I went into the search area and found the victim dead after they had told the sheriff the victim wasn't there.
True I was investigated and after a three year audit I was found NOT Guilty of any wrong doing and NO Fines were ever asked to be paid.
Just remember the very same people who are bitching about me being paid are the very same sheriff's who are getting paid for SAR and not doing their job right. IF they did their job I wouldn't have one.
Someone made the statement that I was "Mixing funds" when I was in the non profit world. Folks this is true...I was paying the MWSD Non profit's phone bill, fuel bills, meals, for searches out of my own pocket as MWSD rarely had any money in their account and since I ran the organization, I paid out of my own pocket. This was found to be 100% correct during the IRS and DOJ Audit.
Someone had to pay their bills for them. We were averaging 150 sar calls a year and it got expensive. At no time were we ever reimbursed by the sheriff's offices for any of our searches.
Someone else made the statement that I tried to write off a vacation on my taxes. This is also a TRUE statement.
I had an appointment with DISNEY Staff regarding my Help Us Find You child safety program and asked Disney corporation to start a Child Safety town. This was all preapproved (the meeting with me and their folks). This included fire safety, electrical safety, my Help Us Find you wilderness safety program, and water safety.
Stranger danger. My son at the age of 6 and I drove to Disneyland only to find they canceled the meeting and didn't tell me. (we didn't have cell phones at this time). I tried to write the trip off and was told by IRS nope couldn't do it. It didn't involve a lot of $$ so it wasn't that big of a deal just a big disappointment that Disney could have help me educate and save thousands of children's lives with our safety town.
